Organic Long Grain White Rice

Organic Long Grain White Rice by Hatton Hill Organic. Organically grown, harvested and dried in India. Packed in the UK.

Well, here's a food that ought to need no introduction – except that it does, since so many people dismiss it as "boring" and "just a filler". Long-grain white rice is likely the most popular grain on the planet. It's everywhere. And since it's so ubiquitous, so too are its uses. Try getting a bit creative with it and you'll never say it's boring again!

Our organic long-grain white rice is a culinary canvas from which you can paint any number of masterpieces, from Mexican-style burritos to Korean bibimbap, a super-simple, absolutely delicious rice bowl that includes a medley of vegetables, meats, tofu, egg and... almost anything you like, really, so long as you remember to add a dollop of gochujang chilli paste!

Our long-grain rice makes a great stuffing for roasted peppers, courgettes and aubergines, it's superb in salads and stir-fries (just remember not to overcook it!), it's perfect for pilafs, stunning in sweet dishes (think coconut rice and rice pudding), and it's brilliant for bulking up soups, stews and casseroles.

How about substituting potato for rice and a little egg to make fish cakes with a taste and texture that's all their own? Or whipping up Thai-style rice porridge khao tom with some mushrooms, minced pork or chicken, a splash of fish sauce and a handful of aromatic herbs such as lemongrass, coriander and spring onions. Or getting a New Orleans vibe going with a spicy jambalaya. There's almost no dish in the world in which rice can't play a starring role – it's so much more than just a bed for curries and an unimaginative, flavour-free filler!
