Organic Whole Juniper Berries by Hatton Hill Organic. Organically grown, harvested and dried in Croatia. Packed in the UK.
Hatton Hill Organic’s juniper berries are strongly aromatic herbs from evergreen plants. The juniper berry is actually a small green cone-like a miniature pinecone – that turns a bluish-black shade in the second year of its growth.
PURE, PREMIUM PRODUCT: Hatton Hill Organic’s Juniper berries are grown in Croatia, and are harvested and dried with the utmost care before being packaged in resealable bags.
USES: Hatton Hill Organic’s juniper berries are intended for use as a dried fruit snack, although they can be used in a wide range of recipes, especially desserts. The most common culinary use of the juniper berry is to flavour gin. But Hatton Hill Organic’s Juniper berries have a vast array of uses beyond that, playing a starring role in a diversity of dishes from main courses such as pork chops with port, juniper and orange to hazelnut sweet potato pancakes with juniper syrup to juniper braised red cabbage. All the way through to desserts and indulgences like juniper and sea-salt dark chocolate panna cotta to vanilla, fig and juniper cake and even fermented juniper berry juice.
SCENTS AND SENSIBILITY: Aside from cooking, juniper berries are used for medicinal purposes as an essential oil. Juniper oil is said to have diuretic effects, which are believed by some to help reduce oedema and lower blood pressure and to possess antiseptic properties. Juniper berry oil is also known as a gastrointestinal treatment that’s thought to help promote digestion. The dried fruit and oil are used to relieve stomach upsets.
