Hatton Hill Organic’s ground ginger is made from only the highest-grade fresh ginger root, but it’s much more versatile than fresh ginger. It's particularly well suited to curries, desserts and drinks, and it’s equally at home in both savoury and sweet preparations. It also peps up salad dressings, grilled vegetables, and helps to make a mean rub for barbequeing meat, fish and poultry. Ginger is a root plant belonging to the ginger family, which it directly gives its name to. This plant, which grows in tropical and semi-tropical climates of Asia, has been widely used in traditional recipes of different societies for centuries. Today, ginger can be consumed fresh or dried for direct nutritional purposes and is also frequently used as raw material in various sectors.

Since fresh ginger has a bitter taste, it is generally not consumed raw alone. Instead, it is grated or sliced and combined with different flavours for recipes such as tea, daily supplements, or a variety of dishes and pastries. Powdered ginger can be added directly to ready-to-eat food and beverages or dishes.

Ground ginger is generally preferred in homemade recipes to add a sharp and fresh flavour to dishes. This herb, whose refreshing properties are even more prominent in cold beverages, is also a sensory stimulant in hot beverages thanks to its pronounced aroma and strong components. The use of ginger in ready-to-eat foods is also in order to benefit from its unique strong flavour.
