Organic Green Lentils by Hatton Hill Organic. Organically grown, harvested and dried in Turkey. Packed in the UK.
Lentils are the oldest known pulses cultivated by humans, their domestication dating back at least 11,000 years. Originating in central and western Asia, they have been a staple in regional cuisine whose popularity has spread globally – especially on the Indian subcontinent – thanks to their versatility, high nutritional values and distinctive taste. Green lentils have a higher protein content than brown lentils and hold their shape better than red or yellow lentils during the cooking process.
PURE, PREMIUM PRODUCT: Grown and harvested in Turkey, Hatton Hill Organic’s green lentils boast a nutty, slightly peppery taste that’s sufficiently sophisticated to substitute for France’s famous (and considerably more expensive) Puy lentils. They have a firm texture that makes them suitable for use in a wide range of dishes.
USES: Our organic green lentils are at home in an enormous variety of dishes, from soups, stews, and side dishes to salads, spreads and many more. Green lentils take longer to cook than other lentil varieties, and they retain their form as well as they keep their flavour during cooking, so a soft texture is easy to achieve without mushiness – unless you choose to mash or purée them. Beyond reliable regulars such as curries, casseroles and soups, creations including green lentil burgers, fritters, marinated green lentil salads and sides, lentil croquettes and lemony green lentil dip with cilantro offer an exciting range of culinary possibilities – so experiment to your heart’s content!
PULSE OF LIFE: Big on nutrition and super-lean, Hatton Hill Organic’s green lentils are a true superfood.
