Organic Black Rice

Organic Black Rice by Hatton Hill Organic. Organically grown, harvested and dried in Italy. Packed in the UK.

It's said that in ancient China, black rice was known as "forbidden rice", because its superior nutritional benefits were sought after and only wealthy people and royalty could afford to eat it. Happily, Hatton Hill Organic is today able to bring this very special rice to everyone who fancies a gourmet touch in their cooking at a price that anyone can afford.

Black rice gets its unique black-purple colour from the pigment anthocyanin, which has powerful antioxidant properties, and it's one of the highest-protein and most fibre-rich rices available.

It has a nutty flavour and holds its shape well when cooked, making it an excellent choice for salads and grain bowls. Our organic black rice makes a wonderfully colourful change from white or brown rice, and it can be used in any dish in which you’d use those varieties – think stir fries, stuffed peppers, side dishes, salads, soups, casseroles, rice bowls, pilafs, paellas… You get the idea – in everything.

Our organic black rice is also a great way of adding colourful visual appeal to red rice or white rice such as jasmine rice or basmati rice – just make sure you cook each variety separately before mixing them together due to the different cooking times required.
