Ghost chillies, also known as bhut jolokia, are hybrid chilli peppers grown in Northeastern India and Pakistan. They have a fruity sweet chilli flavour. The ghost chilli held the Guinness record for being the hottest chilli pepper in the world from 2007-2011, with a Scoville scale heat rating of more than 1 million units (by comparison, the jalapeño chillies served up in Mexican restaurants are typically rated at 2,500-8,000 units).
