Organic Raw Cacao Powder by Hatton Hill Organic. Produced from cacao pods organically grown in the Peru. Packed in the UK.
The origins of cacao lie in Central and South America among the Aztec, Olmec and Maya peoples, by whom cacao beans were used as a medium of exchange starting more then 3,000 years ago. Today, for most people, cacao means one thing: chocolate!
Hatton Hill Organic's organic raw cacao powder is made of cacao beans sourced from Peru, in their native region. Our cacao powder is simply cacao beans ground up into powdered form. It differs significantly from cocoa, with which it's often confused, and which is heated to a high temperature and processed in a way that robs it of much of the nutritional value of raw cacao, whether powdered or in bean or nib form.
In addition to being a foundation ingredient for chocolate, our raw cacao powder has a wide range of other uses.
But first, chocolate. Homemade chocolate is surprisingly easy to make, requiring only cacao powder, cacao butter and something to sweeten the mix, such as honey or sugar. Once you've got your mix in the pot, simply add whatever you like to give it texture and additional flavours – almonds, hazelnuts, raisins, coconut flakes, dried cherries and other dried fruit, liqueurs and essences, bacon... Yes, bacon. The only limit is your imagination!
Our organic raw cacao powder gives a full and superior chocolate flavour to ice-cream, cookies, chocolate sauces, a wide range of desserts, truffles, fudge, homemade chocolate liqueurs, rich hot chocolate and more. It has much more depth and appeal than cocoa – taste the difference for yourself!
Before you start wondering whether or not all of this apparent indulgence isn't quite in line with a healthy lifestyle, it's important to note that raw cacao powder is loaded with minerals such as potassium, antioxidants and B vitamins. Our organic raw cacao powder is 100% natural, making it as good for you as the preparations you create with it!
